An experimental narrative associated with occasional personal experiences, thoughts and references to critical medical surgical methods at the Anatomy School of Uppsala University during the period 1934-1944. Alex Papaioannou inspired this audiovisual exhibition (objects, photos, slides) by a pair of surgical scissors purchased in a small flea market. This object was the reason for further gathering of material and literature on the political and social structure in Sweden during the same period. A period characterized by racial trends and beliefs whose remains are still recognizable in racist perceptions that still exist in Sweden’s social fabric. Papaioannou’s studies in Anthropology, his professional career as a photographer, as well as some personal experiences of surgeries and hospitals have influenced and triggered the present installation.
Two concurrent projections, along with other objects, will tell us a little story. The selected photos of Alex Papaioannou and Danai Simou mix and work together as a loop of both creators’ suggestive thoughts.

Danai Simou was born in 1992, in Athens, Greece. Danai Simou initially studied Fashion Styling but after some years she subsequently pursued her love for photography. As a result, she studied Photography, attended seminars of History of Art, History Of Theater, History Of Cinema, Editing and Narrative Photography and recently participated in a six-day workshop with Magnum photographer Antoine d’Agata. She also expresses herself through art direction, music, video art and poetry.
