Vally Nomidou

On the shelf

In Vally Nomidou’s work, the young flesh dries up, dies, becomes hard and fragile and reveals a nature without any intermediate states (such as disease and decay). The posture of the body manifests this nature, hiding the possibility of acting, like a snapshot that has been captured. At the same time, this little existence with the slight crouch, under the building blocks, seems to bear the weight of the world. And the question is: was this drainage that we see, imposed from the outside or from the inside?
