Jasmin Rapti

Rescue

The work Rescue reflects the artist’s perspective on contemporary reality. Influenced by the political and economic conditions that lead to wars and the misery of immigration, the work acts as a “signal of pain”. A society that operates with instant guilt and constant embarrassment is incapable of reacting to a perceived threat. The violent departure from one’s homeland and the forced attempt to integrate in an unknown place, makes the existence of both the immigrant and the society that receives him / her, fluid and uncertain. The work symbolically uses an isothermal emergency blanket, as a symbol of hope, salvation, deconstruction and destruction, associated with mourning, death or new life.
