The artist Babis Venetopoulos, through a variety of self-portraits, tries on social roles and mental states as dresses. In his work Rats we are witnessing perhaps his darkest version. An archetypal, wet and dark space without defined boundaries surrounds him. He sits naked, in the most disgraceful position, accompanied by rats, living surrendered to the visitors gaze. Does this image work as a dive into the subconscious or into a harsher reality?
Babis Venetopoulos is an artist and Assistant Professor at the Department of Visual and Applied Arts at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His scientific field is digital media and digital design and he has a background in Fine Arts and audiovisual techniques and media production. He has exhibited his work in Greece and internationally.
