Zoe Samourka creates a mapping of traces.
These traces, which overlap and repeat almost identically, demonstrate our subtle movements—both metaphorically and literally. The artist suggests that new information can emerge through this seemingly endless repetition. This process is reminiscent of the ongoing feedback we receive from our digital profiles as we navigate the Internet in real time.
Unlike the extensive algorithmic bubble in which more and more things are suggested to us that are related or almost identical to what we are looking for, a bubble made up of a whole universe – of friends and followers – that orbits around us like a satellite, Samourka uses raw materials, revealing a brutalist reality.

Artist Bio

Zoe Samourka is an architect and visual artist whose work explores abstract expression
and structural purity. She participated in the 7th Venice Biennale of Architecture and
received the Mies van der Rohe Award. Her architectural projects are celebrated for their
simplicity, clarity, and unpretentious construction. Driven by a need to reflect on
fundamental principles, she transitions into visual art through diverse materials like
chipped walls, weaving, embroidery, threads, painting, cheap materials, metals, and
magnets. Her practice reflects a deep connection to rhythm, architectural elements, and
materiality.
